Harrogate U16 vs DHC U16
0 - 2
Sunday morning saw us all get up early and head up the A1 to face Harrogate for our first league fixture, and it was well worth it with a great result winning 2-0.
After a tough start finding our feet for 15 minutes Doncaster midfield started to control the ball and possession, which eventually turned into chances but failed to convert and it was 0-0 at half time. Doncaster had done everything but put the ball in the net.
The second half started off really well with Player of the Match Phoebe running down the right, cutting in and earning the short corner that eventually led to that elusive first goal. Olivia passed to Connie who beat a couple of players and scored past the keeper, a well worked short corner.
Doncaster continued to boss the game with the majority of possession and territory, playing excellent hockey. The second goal came from some more good work down the right by Phoebe to earn another short corner that was tapped in at the back post by Isobel Laidlaw. We continued to have shots on goal and Holly was very unlucky not to get on the score sheet but the keeper pulled off a brilliant save that the ref thought was in. Harrogate's Player of the Match must have been their keeper following a string of saves to keep it to just 2 nil.
Harrogate did find themselves having a few chances throughout the game and short corners, but the defenders and Jess in goal kept a deserved clean sheet.
Well done to all the new players who ran, tackled and did everything asked of them. Onto the next match next week home to Leeds.

Sheffield U16 vs DHC U16
1 - 1 (2 - 0 win on shuffles)
U16B Boys drew their opening game of the National Tier 1 competition.
It was an opportunity to play a no. of new lads who, I hope, learnt much from the match.
Doncaster started slowly and, unfortunately, conceded in the first 5 mins. However, the lads started to 'warm' to their task, gradually going control of the game by mid-first half. Notably, Ed B making good progress down the right and Ollie B down the left, a no. of PC's came...and went. H/T 0-0 with the team talk that we're very much in the game and could get a result.
The second half saw the boys control long periods but also become a little more desperate for an equaliser. This meant Sheffield looked dangerous on the counter, and Beau was called in to making a couple of important saves, with the defence marshalled by Lucas H and Zac H having to be a little more disciplined.
At the other end, there were good opportunities for Will R and Luke G. It just needed a spark to get the goal!
10 minutes from the end, Donny were awarded a flick, which Luke G converted. 2 mins later, Will R was upended by the Sheffield keeper, however this time the resulting stroke was saved.
The game was end-to-end, but neither team could find the winner. This meant a shoot-out/shuffles competition. Beau saved Sheffield's first in fine style, but sadly, we converted none of our first 4, thus losing the bonus point on offer.
The work rate from ALL was excellent, with many positives to take from this match.
