First team Preview:
Men's 1s
Doncaster vs Sheffield, under the lights at the John Marshall Arena on a Friday night….recipe for
a cracking game of hockey this isn’t it?
The team have had a couple of set backs recently and what better opportunity to get back to
winning ways than at home with a packed side-line? Not for the lack of trying, things just haven’t
fallen our way the last few weeks, but we’ve been putting in the work to try fix things in
preparation for tonight’s game.
The last Friday night game saw probably one of this group’s finest hours as we dismissed
Champions-in-waiting Lindum 3-1 and we’ll be hoping to put in a similar standard of performance
tonight.
The group always look forward to the evening games - there’s something a bit special about them
down at Town Fields. We’re really looking forward to showing the club what this Men’s 1XI is all
about, and despite a couple of below par performances recently, want to prove to that we are one
of the top teams in this division.
We know the sideline is going to be packed with familiar faces and perhaps some new ones as
well. I hope we put a performance in that you can be proud of, both collectively as a team and
individually as the lucky group of guys that represent this fantastic club in the National League.
We’ll see you out there at 8pm.
Ladies 1s
Last Saturday, our ladies 1s travelled up to Newcastle for a crucial game. Newcastle sat slightly above Doncaster in the league therefore the girls knew it was an important match. Our 1s started strong and ended the first half 2-0 up. Newcastle then responded scoring 2 goals of their own equalling to 2 all. Doncaster were happy with a point but also slightly disappointed that we had let a 2 goal lead slip.
This drove our passion for an intense training session this week.
This Saturday our ladies welcome Alderley Edge to the John Marshall Arena for a 12pm push back. Alderley Edge present a high goal threat, scoring in every game they have played this season. This means our defence must be on high alert!
Every game running up to the Christmas break is crucial for our ladies 1s therefore we wish them, along with all Doncaster teams, the best of luck!
