Tournament Recap
1. Game 1: Doncaster vs Ashmoor (1-3 Loss)
Doncaster started as one of the underdogs but gave a strong performance against eventual champions Ashmoor. The game was fiercely contested, with the scores level at 1-1 heading into the final two minutes. However, Ashmoor managed to score twice in quick succession, narrowly securing the win. Despite the result, Doncaster demonstrated their capability against high-quality opposition.
2. Game 2: Doncaster vs Repton (1-5 Loss)
The second game proved to be a tougher challenge, with Repton taking control early on. Doncaster’s captain, Leo Rudd, provided a moment of inspiration with a fine penalty corner goal, but it served only as a consolation in a 5-1 defeat.
3. Game 3: Doncaster vs Brooklands (0-2 Loss)
Entering the final round of group games, Doncaster had little chance of progressing to the semi-finals. Nevertheless, they delivered a spirited performance against semi-finalists Brooklands. Doncaster arguably looked the stronger side but were edged out 2-0 in a closely fought encounter.
4. 7th/8th Place Playoff: Doncaster vs Cambridge City (1-2 Loss)
The playoff match saw Doncaster field five players making their final appearance for the Under-18 indoor squad. They made a strong start, taking an early 1-0 lead, but Cambridge City mounted a comeback to secure a 2-1 victory.
