Men's Results:

Leeds vs DHC Men's 1s
4-1
It was 3rd taking on 2nd as we made our trip to Leeds HC for a Saturday night fixture under the lights at 7pm.Doncaster, unbeaten in 5, were taking on a Leeds side who after a slow start, had picked up and were 5 points behind at the start of play. As the fans packed the side line and the clock ticked to 7pm, we pushed back.Despite Leeds winning a PCA within the first minute, it was Doncaster who broke the deadlock with a PCA of their own after 15mins, putting the visitors 1-0 up. In a game that felt more like a Div1 game than a Conference game, the home side fought back and scored twice in quick
succession through a couple of sharp counter attacks to go into HT 2-1 to the good.
The game was still very much alive and Doncaster had a few opportunities to draw level from PCA’s, but ultimately the 3rd quarter was played very much in the middle two 25’s. Wanting to push for goals and to come away with a point / 3 points was ultimately our downfall as we were caught late in the game flooding men forward leaving Davidson’s goal exposed and Leeds coolly added 2 more goals to their tally in quick succession putting the result beyond doubt.
Perhaps the 4-1 score line was a little harsh, but the better side on the night won, of that there is no doubt. Full credit to Leeds HC and Doncaster old boy, Carl Smith on a great game plan. We’ll aim to bounce back as we travel to Ben Rhydding this Sunday.

Newcastle Uni vs DHC Men's 2s
1-3
The 2s travelled the long journey north to play in-form team Newcastle Uni 2s as the fight for promotion continues. A hard battle for the first 15 minutes had chances at both end with one for the home side resulting in a goal through a well worked deflection. The lads weren’t fazed by this as shortly after, Harry found his way around the baseline before squaring it to Rudkin to equalise the game. Going into the last 5 minutes of the half, a crash ball from J Hensh from our D found G Hensh in the opposing 23. The ball was played to Witho, who picked out Rudd unmarked in the middle of the D to deflect one in and give us a well deserved lead.
HT 1-2.
Some wise words from the captain of the day Fearny inspired the lads to go out and continue their domination in the game. Some class defending from the experienced Donny defence kept out several chances despite the growing pressure from Newcastle. A late break away chance saw Rudkin receive the ball at the halfway and drive through the middle of the pitch before expertly placing it over the keeper and putting the game to bed.
FT 1-3.
A well earned 3 points puts the lads in a string league position ahead of next fixture away at Stokesly.

DHC Men's 4s vs Horncastle

0-4
The Men's 4s welcomed Horncastle 1s to the JSM Arena with some noticeable absentees through injury (Lockwood - hamstring), (Burtoft - jaw) and some recovering from illness (Brown), this resulted in a 4th xi debut for Hall, who had been playing well for the 5s previously).
The first half was an end to end affair with both sides creating openings.
The half yielded only 1 goal, the visitors scoring a penalty corner in the 25th minute.
Half time 0-1
The second half was again end to end, the visitors giving themselves more breathing space with a goal 5 minutes into the half.
Midway through the half Horncastle scored a 3rd.
Horncastle rounded off their goals with another penalty corner 10 minutes from time.
Things got worse for Doncaster when Scott received a green 5 minutes from time.
Final Score Doncaster 0 Horncastle 4.

DHC Men's 5s vs Selby
0-2
Men’s 5 entertained Selby 1 this weekend, the return fixture for a humbling 8:1 defeat away from home. The team were focussed on delivering a more robust performance than the previous game and so it was in the first half with an evenly matched game with opportunities coming at either end of the pitch.
The strong core down the middle of the field that dominated away from home for the opposition were kept in check by some hard work and focussed hockey from our midfield and defenders.
Doncaster had a fair share of opportunities playing the wide game away from their strength and using our pace and experience up front to carve out opportunities.
Pressure and two well taken opportunities for the opposition left Doncaster 2 down. Our keeper made some good saves to keep the game with in reach and we kept pushing for a reply before being awarded a penalty flick that failed to be converted by the captain.
The game finished 2:0 however this score line did not reflect the close nature of this enjoyable game.

Ladies Results:

Leeds vs DHC Ladies 1s

3-1
The ladies 1s travelled to table topping Leeds for a 5pm push back, they were hoping to stop Leeds in there tracks and put some well deserved points on the board for themselves. Doncaster rode their luck after a couple of goal line clearances, Leeds then broke the deadlock and went 1-0 up. Doncaster continued to fight and were rewarded with a well deserved equaliser scored by C Dodds. Doncaster continued to push and managed to gain the edge over Leeds for large periods of the 3rd quarter. The kitchen sink was thrown and Doncaster committed to many bodies forward and Leeds managed to claw another two goals back in quick succession with the game ending 3-1 to Leeds.

DHC Ladies 3s vs Hull Hawks
1-3
On Saturday the ladies 3s played Hull Hawks at home. It was a tough game but the whole team put in 100% effort throughout to keep it tight. We had lots of positive attacking play which lead to a fab goal be I Laidlaw. There was lots of great play but unfortunately Hull managed to win 3-1 however we were very pleased with the team performance and look forward to building on it in the coming games. We gave player of the match to the whole team as the effort put in was brilliant!
