Disputes Procedure
Issues will arise where players, members and guardians fail to see eye to eye on a situation surrounding the hockey club. Anyone attached with the club who has a grievance with anything that happens should approach either the relevant captain, welfare officer, junior coordinator, men’s rep or ladies’ rep, or the Club Chairperson within one week of the incident occurring.
The issue should then be brought to the Committee as soon as possible regardless of how serious the situation in question is. Under no circumstances should a member of the Committee deal with any complaint in isolation.
Some situations can quite easily be resolved without the need for the Committee to convene and rule on the issue. If a situation involves one of the following issues then both the member who raises the issue and their initial point of contact are to arrange for the Committee to be convened within two weeks of the incident taking place to rule on the issue at hand:
• child protection issues, including, but not limited to bullying, violence and discrimination
• altercations of a violent nature between members on or off the field (when representing the club)
• social media issues.
Failure for any member, guardian or parent to bring these issues to the attention of the committee will result in the club being unable to fulfil its role of safeguarding its members, both young and old.
